Creation of
"Sunlit"
fine art engraving
A comparison of the plate before and after inking. The first artist's proof.
Before ink is applied
- Only a few marks have been made at this point. The general
composition has been laid out.
- We have included a picture of an inked plate to show how different
it looks after being inked and wiped, a crucial step to remove excess ink.
- You can get a nice gradation of tone (as in an atmonpheric
effect) by the way you wipe the plate....less ink wiped off will result
in a darker tone.
- At times I will wipe a small area with a cotton swab or my
fingertip for highlights.
After ink is applied and the plate is wiped.
