- For people new to the internet, if you right click the links and
choose "Open in a new window" you won't have to jump back
and forth between small pictures and large ones. You can just close the
new window and still have the original window open where you were. That
way you won't lose your place and have to load the page again.
- The tell a friend and floating navbar all
use Javascript to function, if your browser can't use it or you have
it turned off, they won't work for you.
- On the bottom of every page are links to many
pages on the site and email links. The search box on the upper right of
pages will also get you to most pages, or you can try the Site
Map.
- If the text is too small or too large,
there are ways to fix it.
- In Internet Explorer, if you have a mouse with a scroll wheel,
hold "Cntrl" on your keyboard and roll the
wheel to a size you like. If you do not have a scroll wheel, click
on "View" in the top menu bar, then "Text Size",
then on a larger or smaller size than is already selected.
- In Netscape Navigator 4.x click "View" then
"Increase Font" or "Decrease Font".
- In Netscape Navigator 6.x click "View" then
"Text Size" and then choose something larger or smaller
than what is already chosen.

All AOL members have the option of deselecting "Use Compressed Graphics" in their Web Preferences. Here is the path:
My AOL» Preferences» WWW» Web Graphics
and uncheck
"Use compressed graphics"
Here is a more detailed explanation if you continue to have problems:
-
Q. Why do my images look more blurry on AOL's Browser and why do some have black bars on them!A. America Online utilizes graphics compression software that speeds up the delivery of web pages to it's members by compressing images and various multimedia applications. Images that are BMP, GIF or JPG are converted into the proprietary Johnson-Grace image format. All AOL members have the option of deselecting "Use Compressed Graphics" in their Web Preferences.
-
Q. OK, I have deselected "Use Compressed Graphics" in my WWW preferences and the images still look the same! What am I doing wrong?A.This is a Caching issue. In your WWW preferences you can set your history to "0" pages and clear the History. You must also delete the files in your Temporary Internet Files folder. Holding down the "Control" key on your keyboard and simultaneously mouse-clicking on the Browser Reload icon while the browser window is active will also clear your proxy cache and display the latest data from the website.
