Close up of the inked and wiped plate
The inked plate.

Here is a larger than life size look at the inked and wiped plate laid on a paper towel and ready for printing.

You can see how the ink has filled in the lines, producing darker tones where the lines are more plentiful and deeper.

Highlighted areas shine where the ink has been cleaned off.

The paper towels absorb any excess moisture from the engraving paper.
