How engravings and paintings are framed.
Printed Engraving

- This is the copper plate on the left (or top) that was used to
print the engraving. The engraving is on the right (or bottom), shown
after printing and before matting.
- The picture of the plate is larger than the image on the paper
to show more of the detail.
- The paper is cut with enough room to leave a good margin to work with.
- Notice the engraving is reversed into a mirror image of
the plate.
